Roll tongs
In the “rolling” production process, materials are formed using rotating rollers. Both the working rollers and the back-up rollers that are used must be regularly ground. To ensure these rollers do not become damaged, they must be transported from the tool to the grinding machine in a particularly careful process. This is because some of them have a particularly sensitive surface. Roll tongs from WIMO® are an ideal solution for this challenge.
Like all products from WIMO Hebetechnik, all roll tongs are custom-designed for the specific application scenario at the relevant place of use. All circumstances on-site are recorded and utilised to optimal effect in order to optimise the entire material flow. WIMO® roll tongs contain high-quality technology and many years of experience. Depending on customer requirements, they can transport one or more rollers at the same time. The tongs take the rollers into the grinding machine and later remove them. The rollers are transported in a particularly safe way that protects materials – in part because of the integrated cut-off strips and load-securing devices. The low-maintenance design minimises operating costs. WIMO® also offers a very good testing and repair service plus a secure spare parts supply for roll tongs, available for decades if required.
Work-roll tong for gripping neck of roll
The particularly slim gripper units allow direct loading and unloading of the roll grinders.

A hydraulically movable counterweight in the main beam compensates for the different centres of gravity of the various roller types and thus enables the load to be transported horizontally at all times.

The four support columns centre and guide the work roll clamp and thus enable extremely gentle transport of the work rolls.

The load bearing on the roll barrel makes this solution extremely flexible to use, regardless of the different contours of the chocks.
Spreader for transporting roll forming racks
Due to the different load centres of the profiling roller frames, the centre of gravity is balanced both in longitudinal and transverse direction.
