In many industrial enterprises, coils need to be transported, turned and placed into storage while raised. This needs to be done in a way that is as protective as possible for the materials and as safe as possible for employees. Coil tongs from WIMO® enable safe and rapid transportation and allow coils to be turned and placed into storage. Like all WIMO® products, all coil tongs are custom-designed for the individual application scenario. The circumstances on-site are taken into consideration and utilised to optimal effect. This results in innovative and high-performance special-purpose designs. Our coil tongs are designed for a very long service life.

The coil tongs pick up the coils on the transfer station in front of the automatic area. For this purpose, the arms are moved separately so that they can also pick up coils that have not been placed in the exact position. The clamps are folded in during the approach to the coil. Light barriers are used to check whether the gripper arms are positioned centrally to the coil eye. The separately movable gripper arms approach the coil. In order to protect the coil, the closing movement is stopped by switch-off bars leading ahead. When the motor has been stopped via the shut-off bars in both gripper arms, the claws are folded down to pick up the coil. While the coil is being lifted, the automatic centre compensation brings the coil into the centre of the clamp housing. The horizontal slewing gear enables any position during storage via a ball bearing slewing ring. The tongs are automatically lubricated via a lubricator.

with spindle drive, rotatable via particularly stable ball bearing slewing ring. The folding claws are a great advantage, especially for loading and unloading ships. This means that the gripper arms require less space when approaching the coil. The clamps are only folded down when the tong arms are in the optimum position. This way, the folding clamps make it easier to enter the coil eye and protect the coil.

Ideal for occasional changes of goods to be transported. Designed for fast and safe slinging without time-consuming changing of the load handling attachment. The sheet metal package adapter is placed in a trestle. The coil tongs retract into the adapter with the claws on both sides. By picking up the adapter, the load safety device of the coil tongs switches. The load safety device prevents the tong arms from opening under load - in this case "under the load of the adapter". Even in the event of accidental incorrect operation, the tong arms will not open. Safe transport of the sheet packs is guaranteed.

The four pick-up claws of the combination tongs can be moved by motor in longitudinal and transverse direction and rotated by 90 degrees. The two inner pick-up claws are designed for the transport of coils and can be folded. This means that this load handling device can also be used in confined spaces (e.g. loading and unloading lorries, wagons and freighters). Many different loads can be transported with these universal tongs. When handling sheet metal packages, palleted coils and containers, the four outer pick-up claws are used; when handling coils in horizontal axle position, the two inner pick-up claws are used.

With light barriers you can achieve quick and safe positioning of the tong arms in front of the coil eye. Particularly effective in combination with folding clamps. In this case, the operator only unfolds the claws when the light barriers indicate via signal lamps that the support claws are in the centre of the coil eye. This avoids unnecessary contact with the coil windings.
